Good day citizens!
I was at the Beer Hall today with my drinking buddies.......
...and I couldn't believe what my ears were hearing on the news. Chrysler is blackmailing our government and our autoworkers. Wow................what is going on people. What is going on Mr. Harper. What is going on MP's? I think it's time you, yes YOU the Canadian government, call the Chrysler execs in, give them each a suitcase and send them packing. In fact don't even give them a suitcase. Just put them on the highway, point them south and tell them to hit the road. Let them close up shop and leave. Then take over the plants, and set up our own auto industry. We get to keep all the jobs in Canada and if any assistance is given, it will at least be for a Canadian company. When the economy turns around and the company becomes profitable we sell it to the private sector at a profit just like we did with Petro Canada. We don't need to be bailing these guys out... Canadians should stop subsidizing companies whose execs have this audacious attitude that the taxpayers owe them. Or that they are entitled.... These guys screwed up their own industry and now the Canadian taxpayer has to pay for their mistakes? Our government and the tax payers were willing to help them clean up the mess they themselves created and instead of saying thank you, they have the arrogance to "demand" and to "threaten"? It’s time to part our ways. Say goodbye to them and point them home. We have the know-how, the equipment, the workforce and the markets to become world class auto makers. At the same time we should make it clear to ALL car makers here, that if they want to be selling cars in Canada they should be making cars in Canada.

Absolutely fantastic letter. Right on the head of the nail. I have worked for Chrysler for 25 years and now they want us to give them billions of dollars plus wage concessions totalling 25% of our wages plus reduce our benefits. Screw the bastards. I would rather be on social assistance than to see the taxpayers bail them out. Thanks for the letter Bartender.
I agree. Let them close and get out of canada
We should get rid of all three companies and start our own. With the billions we will save we can upgrade all our factories with the latest state of the art technologies in the world. And just like we have all these years, we can produce better quality cars in Canada than the Americans do. And that's a fact.
All great ideas. So why don't we start petitioning our government to take a more protectionist stance with regard to trade and our economy in order to advance the best interests of our country and its citizens. Why does our government function in a passive capacity and allow other nations to dictate and control our economic policies and pursuits?
It is time that this great country actualize the potential we all know it has within it.

We don't really need protectionism. The Canadian work force can outperform most of the worker of the world and most certainly the Americans. Further more our workers are better educated than our friend to the south and the quality of our products are second to none. However in this economic environment you are correct we may have to raise the trade barriers for the short term, as of course, will the Americans.
