Why is everyone getting so excited about the new Goldman
Sachs scandal is beyond me. The business
ethics of GS were well known before the crisis, more dirt came out about their
“unethical” standards and practices during the crisis and the dirt keeps on
coming out the financial sewer pipe. The latest and newest GS exposé has been
published by none other than (of all people) Greg
Smith, the executive director and head of Goldman Sachs’s United States equity
derivatives business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Surprise
surprise…NOT me.
GS was instrumental in causing the
Greek, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Irish financial messes and eventually will
be shown that their hands were dipped into the French and German honey jar as
the problems with those economies begin to surface shortly after the elections
in those countries.
The only thing that surprises me
about GS, is the fact, that even though
American Regulators are in possession and have been in possession of damaging
documents regarding GS, nothing has been done and not a single manager, director, or executive
from that organization has been charged, or has been investigated. Hmmmm….how does that old saying goes…if it
looks like shit and smells like shit you can be sure it’s not French pudding.
There is so much documentation about
GS’s illegal and immoral practices out there, that if the authorities were to
actually put their politics aside and their efforts in gear to investigate GS
through and through, there would be enough incriminating shit to bury under
every building GS owns, every executive, every manager and every con artist
associated with this company past and present.
But of course we know that ain’t gonna happen bro…is it?
You see GS is the Ringmaster of a
three ring circus called Congress, Judiciary and Executive branch. And given
the fact that Americans by the nature of their character are not very
honourable people (greedy yes – honourable not), the possibility of them
committing hara-kiri in defence of their honor, it’s not a likely event. So
when the main stream media, electronic and print flush stories like the one
about Greg Smith with such fervour and excitement and passion as if it is some
kind of a game changer….I just BMAL!
