Tonight I watched CBC’s story on the sale of asbestos to India and for the first time in my life I felt ashamed to call myself a Canadian. What the goddamn hell is wrong with our government? Are they that fucking stupid and morally bankrupt? Don’t they see what they are doing is wrong?
According to the CBC report, Conservative as well as Liberal governments have been engaged in the sponsorship and proliferation of this killer mineral. They have declared it unsafe, hazardous and illegal to use in Canada, but have endorsed its use and sale to developing nations like India. In fact, according to the CBC, India purchases more than 50% of the asbestos we produce. And all this in order to accommodate and facilitate the economic and political interests of Quebec. Where are the Stephen Louis’ and the David Suzukis’, and Al Gores’ when you need them? Where the hell are the human rights groups and environmentalist when you need them? These self-righteous morons worry more about oil spills, animal rights and terrorist’s rights, than they do about the millions of human lives that will be lost in India.
It’s true, half the blame can be placed on India’s doorstep for allowing the purchase and use of this product but the other half surely rests on Canadian shoulders. How dare we criticize Chinese producers for exporting products contaminated with mercury, when our own government is openly selling asbestos to India? Disgusting, absolutely disgusting and criminal. Other than the CBC, what the fuck is the rest of the Canadian media doing about this? They should be all over this story, 24 / 7. Don’t tell me that our “better than thou” media is now as tinted and hypocritical as their American colleagues. How dare we preach morality to Sudan, Iran and N. Korea when we partake in genocide ourselves? Yes genocide is what this is Canada. The number of people who will die in India in the next 5-10 years from asbestos related diseases, will dwarf by comparison the 6 million Jews exterminated by Hitler. Mr Harper and friends, you have just been placed in the company of such GREAT personalities as Hitler, Stalin, Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden and Kim Jong just to mention a few. Congratulations!

Unbelievable! I am surprised no other main stream media has said anything about this. I am also surprised nobody else has commented on it. Are we becoming so indifferent as Canadians that we just turn our heads away and not give a damn? Didn't we do that in Rwanda?
